Frequently asked questions

The twelve questions we hear most.

Can I have my session in Spanish?

Yes. Lucila Cavazos and Gerardo Longoria see people in Spanish, in English or in both. Estefania Barragan sees people in English. The directory on our clinicians page lists who speaks what.

Do you take my insurance?

We are in network with some plan types and out of network with others, and we do not bill Medicare or Medicaid. Before your first session we tell you which applies to your plan.

What is a superbill, and can I use it with my plan?

A superbill is an itemized monthly receipt that you can send to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. It lists a diagnosis code your insurer can see, and your plan decides whether it pays anything.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what your care will cost before you start. If your final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

How much does it cost, and can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Your fee for each session is given to you in writing before you start; it depends on the clinician and the length of the session. You can pay by card, including HSA and FSA cards. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open; ask how to request one.

What happens in the first session?

You tell us as much or as little as you want. Your clinician explains how they work, how confidentiality works and where it stops, and what could happen next. You decide whether to continue.

How often, and for how long?

Sessions are 50 minutes, and couples sessions are 80. Your clinician sets the pace with you, often weekly at first. We do not promise a number of sessions.

Are you licensed where I live?

Our clinicians are licensed in Texas. We see people by video only while they are in Texas during the session. If you are elsewhere, we will help you find someone licensed where you live.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. Our site and voicemail are not monitored around the clock.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows. Before you start, we explain the limits in writing, including when a clinician must act to keep someone safe.

Can you see my teen, and how does consent work?

A parent or guardian is part of any session with a minor. Your clinician explains Texas consent rules and what stays private before the first session.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours' notice to change or cancel an appointment. If you pay without insurance, the fee and the notice are in your written estimate.
