Family sessions
A table with room for everyone
For parents and grown children, siblings, or a couple with a family at home: the people who share a table.
Family sessions bring the adults of a family into one room, or onto one video call, to talk about what is hard between them. Your clinician makes sure everyone is heard, including the quieter ones, and asks which language each person prefers. A parent or guardian joins any session with a child.

What to expect
What it is like, and what it is not
The method
Your clinician uses family-systems ideas: how the family fits together, not who is to blame.
What this is not
Family sessions are not custody evaluations, and not a way to decide who is right. Everyone who attends is a client, and your clinician explains what stays private and where that stops.
How long, and how often
Sixty to eighty minutes, depending on how many people come. We do not promise a number of sessions.
Lucila Cavazos sees families in Spanish and in English. Estefania Barragan sees families in English.
Insurance, paying yourself and a written estimate in advance are explained on one page.
Questions
Three questions about this service
Who should come?
Whoever is willing and is part of what you want to talk about. You can start with the people who say yes, and decide later whether to invite others.
Can my children come?
A parent or guardian is part of any session with a child. Your clinician explains Texas consent rules and what stays private before you begin.
What if a family member refuses?
Come without them. Your clinician can help you think about how to invite them, or whether to.
