Individual therapy
For one adult. A steady hour of your own, 50 minutes.
Seguin, Texas
Aster is a Seguin practice of three licensed clinicians for Mexican American adults, couples and families. Sessions are in English, in Spanish or in both, in person or by video.

Office in Seguin, and video across TexasHow we work
Many of the people who come to Aster grew up between two languages and two sets of expectations: what is said at home, and what is said at work or at school. Therapy here makes room for both.
Your clinician listens first and asks which language feels right for each part of the conversation. You can switch in the middle of a sentence. Nobody will ask you to translate yourself.
We use person-centered talk therapy, and bring in family-systems and emotionally focused ideas where they fit. Each clinician tells you which approach they suggest, and why, before you agree to it.
Services
Every service can be in English, in Spanish or in both.
For one adult. A steady hour of your own, 50 minutes.
For two. Eighty minutes, so each of you has time to speak.
For parents and grown children, or siblings. A parent or guardian joins any session with a child.
Our office on North Austin Street, by appointment.
From wherever you are in Texas during the session.
Two of our three clinicians see people in both languages.
Who we see
Some feelings come out in Spanish and some in English. In one session, you can use both.
You are caring for parents, raising children or answering to a large extended family, and you want one place that is only yours.
You are the first in the family to try it, and you want someone to explain each step before it happens.
We do not prescribe medication, provide emergency care or write evaluations for court. If you are in crisis, call or text 988; in an emergency, call 911.

How it starts
Tell us which times and which language suit you. You do not need to say anything more.
We suggest a clinician by language and schedule, and you can ask for someone else at any point.
If you pay without insurance, we first send your Good Faith Estimate in writing. Then 50 minutes to get to know each other.
In their words
“Lucila switched to Spanish when I got stuck on a word, and nobody made it a big deal. I never felt I had to translate myself.”
“Gerardo never rushed me. He asked what words I wanted to use and let me take my time in either language.”
“The office felt like a living room, and Estefania explained every step before it happened.”

Where
In person at our Seguin office, and by video from anywhere in Texas. Our clinicians are licensed in Texas, so you must be in Texas during a video session.
If you are outside Texas during the session, we cannot see you yet. We will help you find someone licensed where you live.

What nearly everyone asks before a first session, answered plainly.
Aster is in network with some plan types and out of network with others. Before your first session we tell you which applies to your plan. We do not bill Medicare or Medicaid, and we will gladly give you the names of colleagues who do.
Some PPO plans, in network
Other plans, out of network
If you pay without insurance, we give you the fee for each session in writing before you start; it depends on the clinician and the length of the session. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open, so ask how to request one. You can pay by card, including HSA and FSA cards. We ask for 24 hours' notice to change an appointment.
Each month we give you an itemized receipt (a superbill) to send to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. It lists a diagnosis code your insurer can see, and your plan decides whether it pays anything. Ask your plan before you begin.
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We give you one in writing before your first session. If your final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
On request we check your benefits before the first session and tell you what we find. For out-of-network benefits, call your plan and ask about out-of-network mental health services. Our front desk can help you with the words to use.

You tell us as much or as little as you want. Your clinician explains how they work, how confidentiality works and where it stops, and what could happen next. You decide whether to continue.
We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows. Before you start, we explain the limits in writing, including when a clinician must act to keep someone safe.
